Race X Gennaker Halyard rigging. Return to Home Page
These instructions are in addition to those found in the rigging manual for the Topper Topaz Race X.
One
end of the gennaker halyard is tied
to the top (T) of the sail. Thread the
other end of the
halyard thru the fitting located
near the top of the mast. Bring the
halyard to the base of the mast and
thread it thru the pulley at the base of the mast, (starboard side). Then
take the halyard forward and under
the gennaker sock, thru the front pulley, then back toward the rear center
of the boat and thread it thru the swivel jamb cleat which is
located just in front of the mainsheet
block fitting. From this point, thread
the halyard thru the pulley at the
rear of the gennaker sock, then go thru
the sock. Exit the sock at the
bow of he boat and go thru the patch at the
center of the sail, then tie it off to
the criss-cross on the patch above.
When you uncleat the halyard at the swivel cleat and pull it where it exits at the rear of the sock, the center of the gennaker is pulled into the sock. At the same time the top of the halyard releases, lowering the sail. The final portion of the sail marked "T" to go into the sock will retract the bowsprit as it is tied to the end of the bowsprit with a short length of line.
To raise the gennaker, pull the halyard in the opposite direction then cleat it off at the swivel cleat.
Rig the mast and shrouds as follows. Return to TOPAZ Return to Home Page
